Arsenal go on top of EPL

Feb 26,2008 at 6:33 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi Gunners!!What an excellent weekend it was!!
We won a tough away game and our 2 major rivals both dropped points.
Spuds who knocked us out of Carling cup denied Man*** 2 points and Chelsea on the other hand were held
to a draw by Pompey who had our ex (that never satisfied French Diarra). It means we are on the top
of EPL with 2 points ahead of Man***.
We played very good, attacking game against Mancity and thoroughly deserved to win.
Adeb did the trick again with yet an other brace and Eduardo scored easily the goal of the week.
Clichy had an ordinary game(his first) and conceded a goal immediately after we had scored our second.
Nevertheless we hung on to our lead and in the 89th minute, Adeb scored his second to put us on top of EPL.
An excellent weekend and Spuds showed how that to get better of  Man*** ; you have to keep attacking them
till the end and they indeed will crack.

2 Reasons why Arsenal will win EPL this season

Feb 23,2008 at 9:31 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi Gunners!

Some interesting facts:

  • Over the last 8-9 seasons, only once a team which has won Community shield has gone onto win EPL. That means Man*** will not win.
  • Over the last 4-5 seasons, only once a team which has contested for Community shield has won EPL. So Chel*** will not won.

That leaves Gunners as the only ones who can win atleast according to history.

I strongly believe in history and will hope we go onto lift the EPL.

Go GUNNERS !!!!!!!!!!

Man City Preview and FA Cup draw

Feb 23,2008 at 9:20 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi Gunners! We are still joint toppers of the table along with Man*** after the Toon drubbing last Tuesday. This has been the best EPL season with all 3 top teams still in contention. It is a matter of holding nerves and continue doing work which will decide who will clinch the Premiership. We have to keep winning as many matches as possible and forget what our rivals are doing. Considering that another 14 games are remaining and we have to play Man***, Chel **** away, it is important not to drop points against weaker oppenents. We have been very consistent this season in EPL and I only hope we can keep the good work and lift the trophy. It would be interesting to see how our young team will play in the remaining games as they must be feeling that EPL is within their reach now.It is important that players like Gallas, Lehmann (Its great that he will be there as a backup for Almunia, I still believe mad Jens is good enough to displace Manuel), Gilberto who have won major titles in their careers will keep youngsters grounded.Players will have to concentrate on their next game and not worry about title at all.

Next stop is city of Manchester who have been playing well at home and have some decent players like Petrov, Bianchi,Dunne up their ranks. The fact that they were knocked out by Sheffield utd last week has been a big blow to Sven’s players and will be looking to stop us at their football yard. I beleive we are strong enough to beat them by a goal or two. This is an important match as we cant afford to drop points and let Man*** go 3 points clear.

Speaking of Man***, we have drawn them for FA cup at OT. What a joyous moment!!!! I was very happy when the draw was made and the prospect of defeating them at OT is as good as it gets.We had beaten them at OT last season easily and I cant see why we cannot repeat the performance again. If we knock Manu out of FA cup, I strongly believe we can wip the league as well.

Toons sent to Disneyland by Adebayor’s Brace

Feb 20,2008 at 9:22 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi Gunners! Sorry for posting this article 3 days after our Emphatic victory over toons.

This was a match we were expected to do well. We started little slowly but settled into a very good rhythm towards the end of first half. Diaby was the only one who came close to scoring in the first half. Second half was better as we hit the goal thanks to Eduardo and Adeb. Eduardo took the ball in towards his left and struck beautifully towards bottom corner. The ball hit the post and Adeb was too quick to take the ball into his stride and stuck it too well for their charismatic keeper to even come close to touch the ball. Adeb struck again after 81 mins to make it 2-0. It was gameover and Adeb had the best game of this season for the quality of strikes were mindblowing. An own goal from the head of old enemy Nicky Butt made the score 3-0. And the toons were sent to disneyland to play with likes of Mickey and Goofy. We will face them again this Tuesday in the EPL and I expect a similar kind of result again at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s Carling Cup hopes dashed

Feb 14,2008 at 9:18 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

The inevitable has finally happened: Arsenal lost to Spu** in  the carling cup second leg at WHL and thereby ended 21 match unbeaten record against Spurs.
If the performance in the first leg at Emirates was an indication of things that could come, WHL performance was surely the worst one this season. Spurs totally outclassed us yesterday in all quarters.
Wenger fielded a decent starting-lineup with Hleb,Gallas and Sagna starting. Spurs went ahead within 3 mins with Jenas breaking through with an easily conceded goal. With Hoyte in the central and Gallas having a pathetic game, it was very tough to come back into the game. Denilson got a knock and was replaced by Cesc and it surely provided the hope that he could do some magic. We were good at our passing game but never really looked convincing in the final third. Bendtner who surely had a worst game in red and white did what he was supposed to do i.e to put to ball into net but he probably forgot Fabianski is his team-mate and not that horrible looking Dawson.Once we were 2-0 down it was almost an improbable task to come-back even though we had done it last season. We had a decent chance when Sagna’s effort was tipped over by their waste goalie. If first half was bad, second half was even worse.Keane scored in 48th minute to put the game beyond us and Lennon added their fourth in the 60th minute.I felt like smashing my television set as I was totally upset and was hoping we would pull atleast 2-3 goals to reduce the margin of defeat.Adeb scored our only goal in the 70th minute and thereafter we were only hoping that they wouldnt score more goals, which they did in the 93rd minute.

2 records were broken last night
1) Our unbeaten streak against Spurs was ended after 8 years.
2) For the first time we lost when Adeb scored.

Again our dream of winning a silverware eludes us and we only hope that our team does well in FA cup and EPL.

Bring it on Spurs

Its Carling cup time again and we come face to face with our old enemy Spu**. Any gunner could sense this before the actual draw for semi-finals took place. Considering the fact that we have seldom lost to them in last 6-7 years, it is a known fact that we will do it again. Last season we were down 2-nil but managed to equalize thanks to Beast Baptista and we outwitted them at Emirates.

It’s an excellent opportunity for our young gunners to take on old enemy and beat them at their own den. It wont be more satisfying than beating Spu** at WHL.Arsene has stated he wont make too many changes in the starting lineup to one that played at Emirates 2 weeks back. I suspect there will be 2-3 PL players who will sitting on bench to do the trick in case we go behind.

Probable starting line-up:
Fabianski; Sagna, Hoyte,Gallas, Traore, Walcoot, Denilson, Gilberto, Diaby; Eduardo, Bendtner

My prediction is 2-1 to Arsenal with Bendtner and Eduardo to score goals.
